A Golden Thread

By Candradasa on Fri, 7 Nov, 2025 - 05:00

This is the eleventh talk to be produced and released by the Triratna Video Library this year as the 100th birth anniversary celebrations continue.

Sangharakshita visited the Edinburgh FWBO (Triratna) Buddhist Centre in September 2007 as his book ‘Precious Teachers’ was published. He offered this special talk, in which he chose to focus on his friend and teacher, Dhardo Rinpoche.

He invited the audience to picture the unlikely friendship of two young men, one a Tibetan tulku and the other an English bhikkhu,...

Triratna Video Library releases a new Sangharakshita video

By Centre Team on Wed, 30 Oct, 2024 - 11:00

For the sixth death anniversary of Bhante Sangharakshita we have delved into the Triratna Video Library archives and edited a 14 minute video.

In this previously unseen footage you will find Bhante giving a masterclass in how to launch a book as he launches the third edition of Subhuti’s ‘The Buddhist Vision’. Recorded in Birmingham on FWBO Day in 2001. With a light, even playful, touch, he remembers the Movement’s beginnings in Monmouth Street before turning to a ‘momentous event’ in 1985....

A Second Renaissance? Part 2

By Maitriyogini on Mon, 20 Nov, 2023 - 10:30

How are you reading this?

Forgive me for being so forward. Of course, you haven’t really got going yet. It’s probably too open a question anyway: the how of reading could mean lots of different things. First, there’s the medium – are you on your phone, a tablet, a laptop or desktop (though of course you might have printed this out, or be asking a text-to-voice AI to read it to you)? Then there’s the speed – are you scanning, skimming,...

Breaking the Fetter of Superficiality

By Centre Team on Sat, 16 Sep, 2023 - 11:00

Superficiality is acting from the surface of ourselves without thoroughness or care. We act from the intellect but not from our emotional depths. In this talk Akashamitra looks at how superficiality arises from an internally divided state of mind. He points the way to a more wholesome practise of the Dharma through a focus on personal transformation as the...

Letter from the College – June

By ratnadharini on Fri, 30 Jun, 2023 - 15:42

Dear Order members and friends,

My experience this month has been dominated by preparing for, and enacting, a 150 mile pilgrimage from where Sangharakshita was born in Tooting, London, on 26th August 1925, to Adhisthana, Herefordshire, where he lived the last – and some of the happiest – years of his life, dying on 30th October 2018. Having had the inspiration for the pilgrimage, I realised I could share the experience with others and open it up as a fundraising initiative...
