Click on the images to find information about possible options for arranging your own accommodation nearby Adhisthana.

At the time of posting, there are lots of rooms available at Church Farm in Coddington for Friday 9th and Saturday 10th.

We also have a number of local Sangha members offering accommodation, some also with transport to the funeral. Please write to admin [at] adhisthana.org to arrange this.

An Update On Sangharakshita's Vigil and Funeral Arrangements

By parami on Fri, 2 Nov, 2018 - 17:35

Dear friends,

Bhante’s body is now at Adhisthana. He arrived yesterday afternoon (Thursday) and around 60 Order members, Mitras and friends from the Adhisthana mandala (the community, people here on meetings etc and local sangha) gathered to welcome him back. It was a beautiful afternoon with stunning light shining over Adhisthana and the hills beyond. The hearse arrived as the light was fading and we lined the drive as the car drove slowly up to the courtyard. In the courtyard Bhante was...

By Bodhidasa on Thu, 1 Nov, 2018 - 06:42

Should I run to your side?
What frantic display
reveres your stillness?

Should I recall you?
What image gives shape
to your shabby elegance?

Should I speak of you?
What eulogy does justice
to your eloquence?

Should I bequeath garlands?
What wilted flowers
could embody such wisdom?

Should I hold to your words?
Why...

A Short Account of Sangharakshita (Dennis Philip Edward Lingwood)

With great sadness, we announce the death of Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order and the Triratna Buddhist Community. Here is a short account of his life and teachings.

Early Years
The man we know as Sangharakshita was born Dennis Lingwood in a working class family in Tooting, south London, in 1925. Aged eight, he was diagnosed with a heart problem (a misdiagnosis, it later turned out) and confined to bed for...

Responding To Triratna Controversy

By Centre Team on Sat, 18 Feb, 2017 - 22:31

Many of our readers and friends will be aware that over the years Triratna has periodically needed to revisit troubling issues relating to events in our past. These derive in part from allegations of sexual misconduct by our founder, Sangharakshita, in his relations with a number of adults in the 1970s and ’80s. You can read about the general background here: Our Development & Values

At present there is a renewal of interest in these matters at Triratna Centres...
