By Munisha on Tue, 30 Sep, 2014 - 16:35The following two men were publicly ordained at Padmaloka retreat centre in the UK on the afternoon of Thursday 25th September 2014.

Gary Schooler becomes Amalavacha - “He who speaks from the Sspotless”.

Richard Weeden becomes Garavachitta - “He whose mind turns to reverence”.

Their private preceptor was Mahasraddha; their public preceptor Saddhaloka.

By Munisha on Mon, 22 Sep, 2014 - 17:10Fredrik Broman was publicly ordained at Dharmagiri Retreat Centre, north of Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday 20th September at 12.00 local time.

He becomes Viriyavasin, a Pali name meaning ‘He who has mastery of his energy’.

His private preceptor was Bodhiketu; his public preceptor was Satyaraja.

This is the first Triratna ordination retreat to be conducted in Sweden.

By Munisha on Fri, 19 Sep, 2014 - 18:26On Wednesday 17th September, Eric Wentworth was publicly ordained at Aryaloka Retreat Centre in New Hampshire, USA.

He becomes Rijupatha: ‘He who is on the path of uprightness’.

The Sanskrit spelling is Rjupatha, with a dot under the ‘R’. The Westernised spelling is Rijupatha, without diacritics.

His private preceptor was Bodhipaksa, and his public preceptor was Dhammarati.

Sarah Bedworth becomes Sraddhagupta, a Sanskrit name meaning “She who is protected by Faith”. (Accent over the ‘s’; long second and final ‘a’s.)

By Munisha on Wed, 27 Aug, 2014 - 00:18Jill Vernon of the West Midlands Sangha, UK, was publicly ordained at Adhisthana on Monday 25th August.

She becomes Moksapuspa (dots under each ’s’ and long final ‘a’), which means in Sanskrit ‘She who is a flower of liberation’. The westernised spelling is Mokshapushpa. Her private preceptor was Suchitta and her public preceptor Parami.

New Chair-elect for the College of Public Preceptors

By Munisha on Thu, 24 Jul, 2014 - 00:45Triratna’s College of Public Preceptors has announced the election of Saddhaloka as its new Chair, to take over from Dhammarati in 2015.

The Chair of the Preceptors’ College is elected by the College every five years. Dhammarati will come to the end of his second term in August 2015 and Saddhaloka is expected to take up the position in the first half of next year.
