Public preceptor: Parami

Bec Remigio becomes Amaladipa
(long ‘i’, long final ‘a’)
Westernised spelling: Amaladipa
Sanskrit name meaning ’She who is a light or lamp of purity’
Private preceptor: Mokshini

Emma Bulley becomes Abhayamāla
(long penultimate and final ‘a’)
Westernised spelling: Abhayamala
Sanskrit or Pali name meaning ’She who has a garland of fearlessness’

South America's first Going for Refuge retreat

This Easter, South America saw its first ever Going for Refuge retreat (for those training to be ordained in Triratna), in the Venezuelan Andes, outside the city of Mérida.

Triratna activities in Venezuela began in the early 1990s although the Centre has received very limited support and input from the wider sangha until quite recently.  The Centre currently boasts more than 20 mitras, 13 of whom have asked for ordination.

While six men Mitras were on their first Going for Refuge retreat on home...

We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday March 28th at 2.30pm Jyotipala was publicly ordained at Padmaloka Retreat Centre, UK.

Jyotipala means ‘He who protects the light’.

His public ordination was performed by Padmavajra.

This ordination marks Jyotipala’s re-entry into the Order. Jyotipala was the first person to be ordained at Padmaloka in 1976 - with Sangharakshita as private preceptor. Sometime in the mid to late nineties, Jyotipala resigned from the Order. Unusually, he was not privately ordained...
