Dharmabyte: Practice - Individual, Group + Sangha

By Zac on Mon, 5 Sep, 2022 - 06:00

How do we retain our individuality while practicing with other people? Are we true individuals, or are we rebels, and are the two really that different? Karunadevi  explores the dangers and benefits of practicing within a sangha using the Buddha’s teaching on the mental fetters and various commentaries by Sangharakshita.

From the talk The Individual, the Group and the Spiritual Community given at San Francisco Buddhist Center, 2007.

The Ministry of Presence (The Dharma Toolkit Daily, Episode 12)

By Centre Team on Wed, 8 Apr, 2020 - 12:17

With Viveka and Upayadhi we discuss taking cues from anticipatory communities who deal with systemic suffering every day, and who have stored up effective responses to some of the issues we are all now facing. The...

By Candradasa on Thu, 24 May, 2018 - 15:00

California was a very different culture, especially around San Francisco, and I felt both overwhelmed and enthralled...

It’s 50 years since San Francisco’s ‘Summer of Love’, and with Buddhist Action Month in full swing across many countries, it’s a great moment to celebrate American Order member Vimalamoksha and his Tiny Homes Project, making innovative small wooden mobile homes for those living on the streets of San Francisco. We continue to celebrate the diversity of those attending the 2015 Triratna Buddhist Order Pan-American Convention in Mexico with two close friends from San Francisco.
