At the 2019 Triratna Pan-American Convention in Mexico, Parami gives a strong, beautifully challenging talk about the future of the Buddhist community she has taken a leading part in since the 1970s. Taking as her framework Sangharakshita’s 1999 talk ‘Looking Ahead A Little Way’, as well as the four traditional Verses of Acceptance for Buddhist ordination within Triratna, she gives us her Top 10 Wishes for the wellbeing and flourishing of the Order and Movement around it in...

By Free Buddhist Audio on Sun, 27 Oct, 2019 - 04:21

From the 2019 Triratna Buddhist Order Pan-American Convention in Mexico, an excellent triad of short talks looking at what it means to be radical in the context of our history as a community - and what it might mean in future.

Upekshamati, founder of much of the Triratna community’s presence in Mexico, starts us off with a précis and his personal response to Sangharakshita’s talk from 1999 - ‘Looking Ahead A Little Way’

Aryajaya picks up the theme by giving her...

Sugar Skull Shrines and Sugar Cane Fields: Transformation in Mexico at the Pan-American Convention

By Candradasa on Fri, 25 Oct, 2019 - 05:20

Chintamani Retreat Centre is a strikingly beautiful venue for Dharma practice in any season. Fittingly for a place built from scratch 15 years ago on old sugar cane fields and surrounded by sugar cane hills, our beautiful shrine is adorned...

By Candradasa on Tue, 4 Sep, 2018 - 17:39

Immediately I said yes, and then I thought, ‘Oh, wow, it’s Venezuela… it’s almost like war!’ I didn’t know what kind of adventure it was going to be…

Jnanadakini’s Annals

In 1968 I was trying to understand the tragic political events in my country, Mexico, during the killing of many many students; and at the same time being moved by the Beatles song ‘All You Need Is Love’ and the Olympic games in Mexico.

In 1978 I was studying Sociology at the University, finding my individuality with leftists and...

South America's first Going for Refuge retreat

By Munisha on Wed, 3 May, 2017 - 11:23

While six men Mitras were on their first Going for Refuge retreat on home...
