Buddhafield Workshops Update No.1 - Site Specific...

By Centre Team on Sun, 7 Jul, 2013 - 18:44Satyadarshin, webmaster extraordinaire for Buddhafield, made a great post a while back about the pretty amazing range of workshops and spaces that take place at the festival every year, with some tasters for this year’s program.

Here’s the first of several updates from him on what’s in store if you head to the festival! You can also follow these on the Facebook page for the Festival.

Buddhafield Week - Part II

By Candradasa on Sun, 7 Jul, 2013 - 18:25As you may have read over on Triratna News, it’s been a strong time of late at Buddhafield, the Triratna project we have been featuring this summer in the run-up to their annual festival from July 17th-21st. As promised, all this week we’re having a second set of features highlighting the best of the community there, and we hope to bring you coverage (rural broadband permitting!) from some of the festival itself.

Buddhafield Photography

By Satyadarshin on Thu, 13 Jun, 2013 - 22:33I’ve recently uploaded a backlog of photos to the Buddhafield Flickr account.

I’ve been a consistent Buddhafield photographer since about 2010, when I bought a new Canon SX210 compact. I started because I was aware of a very serious lack of photos about the Buddhafield Café, with which I’ve volunteered and worked for about 14 years. I’d then recently taken on development of the Buddhafield website, www.buddhafield.com, which had been stuck in the...

Buddhafield celebrate new event - Green Earth Awakening

By lokabandhu on Fri, 31 May, 2013 - 14:31Green Earth Awakening is a new Buddhafield event held for the first time in late May 2013. Not a retreat and not a festival, it brought together Buddhists, social change activists, craftspeople, families, children - over 140 in total - to a beautiful site in Devon, UK, for “a chance to connect with the land, re-learn forgotten skills and live communally, exploring practical and spiritual pathways towards a sustainable future”.

It was a bold vision, with...

Buddhafield Teaching

By Candradasa on Tue, 21 May, 2013 - 16:26Buddhafield may be almost synonymous with the general joie de vivre of the main main summer Festival itself, but that doesn’t take away from the depth of the project as a distinctive contribution in its own right to contemporary reconceptions of the Buddha’s own way of living and teaching 2,500 years ago. As Kamalashila mentions in his essay introducing the history and spiritual basis of Buddhafield: “The Buddha’s simple outdoor life inspires this.”

Buddhafield Week On The Buddhist Centre Online - Part 1

By Candradasa on Fri, 17 May, 2013 - 20:56Over the next seven days or so on The Buddhist Centre Online we’re celebrating one of the most significant developments in the Triratna Buddhist Community to happen in the last 20 years. Buddhafield is more than just an annual Festival (though a quite amazing one!) - it’s a distinctive, radically alternative way of living in and relating to the world. And, in the run-up to their new Green Earth Awakening Camp, we want to...

Green Earth Awakening - New Buddhafield Event

By lokabandhu on Mon, 6 May, 2013 - 11:53Green Earth Awakening is a big new event coming up soon (May 24th-27th) from Triratna’s Buddhafield collective. Not a retreat, not a festival, not a holiday, they describe it as a place to learn, share and practice “Tools for your Mind, Skills for our Future”. Buddhism meets low-impact sustainable living in a glorious field in South-West England…

If you haven’t come across Buddhafield yet, it’s a remarkable project and we’ll be featuring their pioneering work...

Buddhafield Festival talks and photos now online

By lokabandhu on Thu, 26 Jul, 2012 - 06:47A week ago saw the end of the muddiest-ever the Buddhafield Festival - but rave reviews from many of the 2,900 festival-goers. We’ve been digging out some of the best photos we’ve found, and posting onto FreeBuddhistAudio a selection of the many talks given in the Dharma Parlour.
