Give the Gift of the Dharma

By Windhorse Publi... on Tue, 13 Dec, 2016 - 11:24

This season, awaken and enliven with a good book. Or, give the gift of one of our books or meditation CDs to a friend. Allowing a friend to explore a guided meditation CD or book on Buddhism, meditation or mindfulness can be a wonderful way to support him/her through the season. As stated in the Dhammapada, “The gift of the Dhamma surpasses all gifts.”

The eGift card can be used for any book or CD on our...

Books for BAM

By Windhorse Publi... on Fri, 20 May, 2016 - 12:18

We at Windhorse Publications would like to highlight relevant books which can help us explore living more ethically. One way to get involved is to create a BAM shelf at your Centre during June to showcase them. Here are some titles which address the question, ‘How can we live ethically from a place of compassion?’

The Bodhisattva Ideal by Sangharakshita – How can we be happy and at the same time responsive to the suffering of others? It can be...

Looking Back at 2015

By Windhorse Publi... on Mon, 4 Jan, 2016 - 18:27

Thanks to our excellent authors and readers, 2015 has been a very good year for Windhorse Publications. We were pleased to publish four thoughtful new books and to receive support from our readers in the form of sponsorships.

The Buddha on Wall Street was first off the block. Its author Vaddhaka Linn greatly helped us promote it with a near-year-long and near-global tour of Triratna Buddhist centres in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. We are really...

#EthicalChristmas: Wildmind - The Accidental Publisher

By bodhipaksa on Sat, 6 Dec, 2014 - 15:49Wildmind stumbled into publishing back in 2002, and has now brought out eight guided meditation CDs, with plans to publish a number of books.

Wildmind’s foray into publishing started because many meditation students requested that the guided meditations Bodhipaksa recorded for his online courses be offered in CD format as well. Bodhipaksa used the services of a local recording studio in order to record the mindfulness of breathing, development of lovingkindness, and walking meditation practices...

#EthicalChristmas: Priyananda On The People Behind Windhorse Books

By Centre Team on Sun, 23 Nov, 2014 - 15:31Windhorse Publications originated as the main publisher of Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Order. Do you still publish books by Sangharakshita or is your focus now on publishing books by other authors?

We do still publish books by Sangharakshita, but because he is in his old age now, he is writing far less. The most recent of his books that we have put out are previously unpublished material from his early life, ...

#EthicalChristmas: The Ethics Of Publishing In A Digital Age

By Centre Team on Sat, 22 Nov, 2014 - 13:44The publishing industry is in the process of going through a huge, seismic change. Whereas ten years ago we were buying all of our books from our local bookshop, today we’re more likely to purchase them online, in eBook as well as print format. Publishers are having to adapt to these changing conditions in order to survive. In addition, some companies are adopting dubious methods to make up for decreased profit margins – the recent tax avoidance schemes of certain...
