With great sadness, we announce the death of Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order and the Triratna Buddhist Community. Here is a short account of his life and teachings.

This space was launched on 30 October 2018 on the day of Urgyen Sangharakshita’s death. It initially served as a place for information about the ceremonies that took place after his death, and around the funeral itself, as well as for messages of appreciation and gratitude. Now it has a new focus as a permanent archive of the memorial space.

This is to let you know that Bhante is being admitted into hospital today. We do not yet have a diagnosis however for a few days now he has felt very unwell and his overall health is of some concern.

We will of course keep you informed, and meanwhile let us send Bhante our metta.

Dear Order Members,
 
It is sadness I write to inform you of the death of Shraddhabala on the afternoon of Saturday 27 October. 

Shraddhabala was 64 years old, and was well-known for his gentle and polite nature. He was ordained at the Saddhamma Pradeep Retreat Centre on 17December 2017 by Adityabodhi (Private Preceptor) and Ratnashil (Public Preceptor). His yidam was Shakyamuni Buddha.

This year Prajnaketu, Triratna’s Young Buddhist Co-ordinator, gave the keynote talk on the Big One on the theme of  ’Seek truth, release life’. In it he explores the Buddha’s Noble Quest and how we might follow his example by using the metaphor of leaving the palace so that we can go beyond into a truly ‘religious’ life.  Here is Prajnaketu kicking his talk off - the full talk will follow soon!
