Thank you for coming into this world to learn and share all you have shared. You were my first real contact with Buddhism and through your writings, talks and retreat centres your work on this earth has, cheered, challenged and changed me. Thank you. I first met Sangharakshita at the newly established Buddhist Centre at Kemp Town, Brighton in the early 1970’s. It was located in a small detached house not far from the seafront.  There  were less than 10 people there but I could not join the group, because I was on leave from Hong Kong where I lived and worked. Sangharakshita told us he had previously joined the English Sangha Trust, but felt that wearing the Robe would not have been helpful in spreading The Dhamma in the current English social context. ( Some had tried, but had either disrobed or returned to Asia).
