New on FBA: Two Talks Reflecting on Our Teachers

By Rijupatha on Fri, 11 Apr, 2014 - 15:15Two lovely new talks are now available on Free Buddhist Audio that reflect on the inspiration, friendship, and bond between teacher and student in the spiritual life.

Vandanajyoti speaks about her relationship with Sangharakshita and the deep meaning it has had for her. And Nagabodhi remembers his time with Dhardo Rinpoche in Kalimpong, speaking about what he learned from being in the presence of his teacher’s teacher and friend.

Sangharakshita's Diary, March 2014

By lokabandhu on Sat, 5 Apr, 2014 - 05:47Ashvajit writes with his usual summary of Sangharakshita’s diary for the past month, saying - “Misty mornings at Adhisthana this month past have been accompanied by ‘sounds and sweet airs that hurt not’ - by bird song and mild breezes. The mists have often been followed by sunny, though still cool days, and daffodils, primroses and other small flowers have been opening in the bright air.

Bhante’s health has been on the whole good for someone of his age,...

Sangharakshita's Diary, February 2014

By lokabandhu on Sun, 2 Mar, 2014 - 05:56Ashvajit writes with his usual monthly round-up of Sangharakshita’s news, health and visitors, saying -

“The Adhisthana ducks have sometimes been paddling in the field beyond my window rather than in our ponds; however they have not been able to actually swim in the fields around here, which has been the prerogative of ducks in some parts of the UK this month.

Bhante’s health has been much the same, his energy being dependent upon the sleep he...

Life is King in Russian too

By Munisha on Thu, 16 Jan, 2014 - 16:40Suvannavira is Triratna’s emissary to Russia. Living in a hostel in Moscow, he teaches Dharma and meditation - and publishes Sangharakshita’s books in Russian, and has translated all the Foundation Year materials for the mitra study course! He writes:

“Poets and poems have long been loved and revered in Russia. Most dear is Alexander Pushkin, considered the Russian Shakespeare. Be careful if you are asked by Russian if you ‘know’ the poems of Pushkin. They don’t mean...

Föredrag av Guhyavajra

By Viryabodhi on Tue, 12 Nov, 2013 - 14:41Hej alla Triratna-vänner,

By lokabandhu on Thu, 26 Sep, 2013 - 23:04Ashvajit, one of Sangharakshita’s carers, writes with his monthly update on Bhante’s diary for the past few weeks. He says -

“On 1st August there was a great burst of activity to get things ready for the Grand Opening of Adhisthana, Bhante’s new home. On 2nd 3rd and 4th of the month, the doors were thrown open, on the Friday to neighbours and all those who had assisted in any way in the refurbishing of the...

Urgyen Sangharakshita on Death and Grief

By Candradasa on Tue, 10 Sep, 2013 - 17:38Over on the Abhayaratna Trust’s website there’s a little-known but fascinating conversation extract from 2007 between Sangharakshita ( the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Community) and Ratnachuda talking about the death of Sangharakshita’s mother and sister. It’s part of a longer, in-depth discussion of death and grief generally, and we wanted to draw your attention to that as well as to the excellent work Abhayaratna Trust does on behalf of members of the Order...

New portrait of Sangharakshita unveiled in Australia

By lokabandhu on Mon, 19 Aug, 2013 - 06:05Following Saturday’s story on the 2013 ‘Triratna Artists catalogue’, Aaron Matheson, a mitra from Triratna’s Sydney Buddhist Centre, writes saying - “I have some news which would be great to see on The Buddhist Centre’s website: we have a new portrait of Sangharakshita. It was painted by Misha (Enrique del Val), a fellow mitra, who was recently commissioned to do it by Beth Sherlock. The painting is large, measuring 1.5 x 1.5 metres, and is a warmly engaged...
