FBA Podcast: Good Friends

By Sadayasihi on Sat, 28 Mar, 2020 - 13:00

Kalyana Mitrata is spiritual friendship, even ‘the lovely intimacy’, the need for close and supportive connections with others in treading the path. Ratnaprabha  explores why the Buddha said spiritual friendship is ‘the whole of the Buddhist Life’. Is it as important now as it was in the Buddha’s time? Is a Kalyana Mitra the same thing as a guru or teacher? How can we make the intimate connections in our lives really stimulating and nourishing? How do we...

Ratnaprabha Becomes Chair of the North London Buddhist Centre

By Sadayasihi on Fri, 28 Sep, 2018 - 12:14

Sunday the 16th September at the North London Buddhist Centre was multifaceted:
* Celebrating Padmasambhava Day,
* Holding four Mitra ceremonies (Afra, Charlie, Laura and Remi),
* Rejoicing in the outgoing chair, Visuddhimati,
* And inaugurating Ratnaprabha as the new chair.

Look out for the ceremonial Vajra (a brass thunderbolt symbolising transformation).

Ratnaprabha will kick off with a series of public lectures on Saturday mornings at 11:30, inspired by the Buddha’s teaching to the Fire Worshippers, “The World is...

Ratnaprabha's re-rendering of the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta

By Aryanisha on Tue, 11 Jul, 2017 - 14:32

Marking Dharma Day, the anniversary of the Buddha’s first teaching - the Turning of the Wheel of the Dharma - Ratnaprabha has re-rendered this very previous sutta.

Ratnaprabha has an excellent blog and and this latest English addition of the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, posted a few days ago, has already attracted positive comments on social media:

“Thanks Ratnaprabha, marvellous how you render such meaningful yet everyday English from the bare bones.” Vajrapriya

“Thank you. This translation is direct and down to earth and avoids any hint of...

By Aryanisha on Sun, 19 Mar, 2017 - 15:45

Vegan Fashion Venture recently interviewed Ratnaprabha (West London Buddhist Centre) about the relationship between Buddhism, meditation and veganism.

Read the full article and watch the interview on the website. The recording is in English with French subtitles. The script is available in English and in French.

Here is a little extract:

“When I think about Buddhism and veganism, it makes me think first of all about just how crucial from a Buddhist point of view it is to practise non-harming of living beings. It...
