The Triratna Buddhist Order is 2,000 strong!

The following men were publicly ordained at Bhaja, India, on 24th January 2016, bringing the total number of living Order members worldwide to 2,000. Around 1,000 people attended the ceremony.

The public preceptors were Amoghasiddhi, Amritdip, Yashosagar, Subhuti and Sona but we do not have the details of which men were ordained by Amoghasiddhi, Amritdip and Yashosagar.

Shamsundar D. Jondhale becomes Chandragarbha
Meaning of name: Cool like the interior of the moon
Private preceptor: Chandrabodhi

Manik D. Akhade becomes  Kalyanaratna

Y. K Jagatap from Thane becomes Pradnyaveer, which means “Wise hero”.
Private preceptor Nagaketu
Dhanaraj Dabrase from Katol becomes Karunaratna, which means “The jewel of compassion”.
Dattuji Gadage from Varud becomes Bodhinandan, which means “One who rejoices in Enlightenment”. 
Prakash Adhav from Varud becomes Tejomuni, which means “An illustrious sage”.

Douglas Hastings was re-admitted to the Order. Having previously been ordained as Ajitasena and later resigned, he retains the same name, which means ‘He who cannot be conquered’.

James Wilde became Dharmadhira, a Sanskrit name meaning ‘Steadfastness in the Dharma’. (Long ‘i’)
