Livestream: 108 hours of Circumambulation

By Caroline I P on Sun, 18 Jun, 2023 - 18:02

As part of Pilgrims Week at Adhisthana, we will be circumambulating around Sangharakshita’s burial mound for 108 continuous hours. You can turn in at any time and see who is currently circumambulating, day or night.

You may notice that if you tune in at night, you can’t see much! We are currently fundraising to install electric lights in the memorial garden, creating a mandala of light. Please do consider giving to enable this project.

You can see the full list of who is...

Help us become an inspiring Dharma home online to even more people around the world!

When the pandemic struck, Triratna had a well-developed web platform ready to go…

Throughout Covid, the Dharma Toolkit on Buddhist Centre Online has become an inspiring practice home for many thousands of people around the world. All our live events are available instantly to everyone on all devices. But our small team of dedicated web developers can’t meet the massive demand for digital Dharma. Over 50% of web use is now on phones, but with all our pandemic work...

When you're not sure what to do, start by giving (One World, One Sangha)

By Liz_Bassett on Sat, 30 Oct, 2021 - 05:00

Yesterday we shared the Sikkha Project’s work to support our Buddhist Centres to provide the best in Triratna’s Dharma teaching. When I was writing the post I was struck by how many times I used the word give - people giving their time, their expertise, their support.

Our next project really showed us all how to give. When the pandemic took hold, Windhorse Publications found themselves in a tight spot. They rely on selling the majority of their books in our Centre...

Sharing High Quality Dharma Teaching (One World, One Sangha)

By Liz_Bassett on Fri, 29 Oct, 2021 - 05:00

Wherever we are in the world, whether we attend a busy urban Buddhist centre or a small group, we can be sure that we’re receiving an integrated spiritual training from when we first attend a beginners course, right up until we join the Order.

This is due in large part to the Sikkha Project which provides online teaching resources so that our Buddhist Centres can teach as effectively as possible.

During the pandemic The Sikkha Project really rose to the challenge of supporting our teaching...

Sharing our Rich History (One World, One Sangha)

By Liz_Bassett on Thu, 28 Oct, 2021 - 05:00

For many of us reaching out to our Sangha in India was a natural response to the heightened fear of illness that the pandemic brought. If anything, it’s become clearer than ever before that we really are all connected.

The pandemic also provoked an increased sense of urgency to work with our minds. Over the next few days we’re going to share FutureDharma projects that preserve and promote the very best of Triratna’s rich heritage of Dharma teaching.

The Urgyen Sangharakshita Video Project is collecting video...

India - A Coordinated Response (One World, One Sangha)

By Liz_Bassett on Wed, 27 Oct, 2021 - 05:00

Yesterday’s post shared the incredible Emergency Relief Work our Sangha in India have been doing. The Indian Ordination Teams continue to play a huge role in this, supporting their sanghas to reach out to those in need.

In more usual times the Ordination Teams would fundraise for half of their costs with the other half met by generous donations to India Dhamma Trust. That’s not been possible for them to do during the lockdowns of course. We’re very happy to say FutureDharma...

Amalavajra - Your Money or Your Life

By Free Buddhist Audio on Tue, 26 Oct, 2021 - 17:30

Money makes for wonderful means but terrible ends. If we focus our life a mere symbol of relative value then we risk alienating ourselves from the very things we seek - love, meaning and rich experience. Could money instead be a means to not just a better world, but to Enlightenment itself?

Amalavajra is an ex-City broker turned fundraiser. This talk was given to a public audience as part of the June 2014 ‘BAM’ series: ...

India - Compassion in Action (One World, One Sangha)

By Liz_Bassett on Tue, 26 Oct, 2021 - 05:00

Our Sanghas in India continue to be particularly hard hit by the Covid pandemic, and are now facing a potential third wave.

Our Ordination Teams in India continue to lead their Sangha in providing a coordinated and wholehearted response to the immediate practical needs of the people around them. People who thought they had been forgotten.

Starting in March 2020, they have provided emergency food and medicines to people regardless of caste or religion. And with their generosity they’ve made manifest a vision of what...

Building a Better Future (One World, One Sangha)

By Liz_Bassett on Mon, 25 Oct, 2021 - 05:00

Yesterday we featured Kusaladevi’s fundraising support work that helped so many of our local Buddhist Centres not only survive the pandemic but thrive. We didn’t just want Triratna to survive - we wanted to help it continue to grow and reach out to more people.

The Triratna York Buddhist Group UK reached out to us and asked for help to convert an old empty shop and create York’s first Buddhist Centre. As they were planning to do this at a time when...
