By Munisha on Wed, 8 Nov, 2017 - 18:21

Safeguarding work in Triratna, in progress since 2013, has developed enormously in the last three months. As the overall Safeguarding officer (Munisha) I’d like to bring you up to date.

Training On 4th October, around 30 Safeguarding officers and trustees from Triratna centres across the UK, and Saddhaloka (Chair of Triratna’s College of Public Preceptors), gathered at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre for our second training day. After last year’s training in child protection, this year we worked on ‘Safeguarding adults’ with the help of an...

Triratna: Safeguarding with sincerity and integrity

from Munisha, European Safeguarding officer, Triratna

Dear Friends,

I’m sure, like me, you want to be absolutely sure Triratna is doing its Safeguarding properly, with sincerity and integrity. Over the last nine months I’ve read online much doubt and criticism in this area so I’d like to tell you about this work, so that you can decide for yourself.

I have been developing central Safeguarding policy for Triratna since 2013 and I’d like to reassure you that I am absolutely serious about this work: my family suffered for many years...

The programme for Sheffield BAM 2017 is out!

By Khemasuri on Sat, 13 May, 2017 - 18:20

Building Sangha and supporting fellow Buddhists to step into and interact with the world is vital in this time of confusion. Promoting Buddhist values and principles through exemplification challenges cultural norms constructively and is a powerful practice. We know that our actions have consequences and although we may never see the results we can have confidence that we will make a difference.

We have arranged 6 mornings of meditation, talks and discussion to make more conscious the connections between our ethical commitment...

The Observer interview: what I really said, by Munisha (Triratna Safeguarding officer)

By Munisha on Thu, 2 Mar, 2017 - 17:34

As you may know, Triratna featured in the British newspaper The Observer on Sunday 19th February 2017, in an article referring to allegations of sexual misconduct in the FWBO in the 1970s and 80s.

As the person interviewed for the article, I thought I’d explain how this came about and what I actually said; in several places the article was misleading or quoted me inaccurately.

On 8th February a journalist emailed Adhisthana:

“Hi. I’m a journalist writing about what is going on within...

Sthanashraddha is Bhante’s secretary. He writes:

“As this short month of February comes to a close here at Adhisthana it’s clear the seasonal battle between summer and winter is on. We have enjoyed a few delightful days of blue skies and warm sunshine as the snowdrops blossom all around the hills, but the winds have howled too! The rain has lashed the window panes on more than one side of the building and the temperature has fluctuated. Nonetheless...
