Chairs' Letter - April 2021

By Amrutdeep on Fri, 30 Apr, 2021 - 18:40

Dear Order Members and Friends,

I have asked each of my deputies to contribute to these letters, and it seemed appropriate that Amrutdeep would write this month, from India. Amrutdeep was ordained in 1992 and has been a Public Preceptor for eight years, and I’ve very much enjoyed and appreciated getting to know him as we work alongside each other in the College. He is thoughtful and wise, kindly and ethical, and tireless in his practice of the...

Urgent Appeal for 66 Order members in India

By Centre Team on Sat, 17 Apr, 2021 - 22:19

Dear Friends,

The second wave of covid is causing poverty, distress and death in India. Very sadly we have lost several members of the Order to covid in recent days. Currently 15 Order members are unwell with covid to the point of needing medicines and / or oxygen. With public health supplies running low, these things need to be paid for privately. We want to send £150 to each of these Order members to give them this ability.

Donate to the emergency appeal

Could you help support Taraloka through the Covid-19 pandemic?

By SophieAnn on Thu, 15 Oct, 2020 - 16:51

Since March, Taraloka has been unable to run residential retreats, Finally, last weekend, our first, small, socially-distanced retreat was due to begin. Then, the Welsh Government declared our county, Wrexham, to be in strict lockdown again.

Now, we can’t even offer solitaries, donations from which, alongside those from online retreat attendees, had been seeing us through. Even when we can offer residential retreats again, social distancing means they will be for small numbers only, so we will be running them...

Letting Go Of Fear

By Centre Team on Tue, 18 Aug, 2020 - 18:20

The Buddha was said to be completely fearless. What does that mean for us?

We all experience fear at times. And fear has its uses! It can spur us into action and help us avoid danger. But fear can also imprison us and paralyze us. It can stop us from leading the life we want.
