January at Adhisthana

By Caroline I P on Wed, 31 Jan, 2024 - 16:30

It has been a lovely start to the year already. The European Chairs Assembly came for their winter meeting, and it was a great way to kick off 2024; their clear up left the place spotless and you can usually find Maitridevi and a few others playing Bananagrams after dinner (and learn some new words; atavist and quinquereme anyone?).

In community news, Caroline will be going to Akasavana this year and will be ordained by Aryajaya – we look forward to...

Ready for a change? Come live and work at Taraloka!

By nataliak on Fri, 13 Oct, 2023 - 09:53

Taraloka offers a unique context for women to live a full-time Dharma life, for being of service to others and for personal and collective transformation. What’s that like in practice, and who might Taraloka be right for? Watch this video, to find out!

We are recruiting for two people to join our Operations Team in 2024. The positions we are looking to fill are kitchen manager and finance manager, but we are also interested in hearing from anyone who wants to...

Looking for a couple to live in lovely spacious garden room, and create community in cosy house in Lewes

By JulieW on Wed, 9 Aug, 2023 - 21:17

I’m looking for a couple to come and live in the beautiful spacious log cabin (5m x 5m) in my secluded garden, and share kitchen, bathroom, living room, office etc in my quirky house in Lewes, East Sussex.  The cabin is very comfortable, and has a wood burner. It’s 5mins walk from miles of beautiful countryside, 20mins walk into the lovely old town, and close to transport / Brighton.

I’m a Mitra with the Brighton Sangha, and have been going on Triratna...

Urgyen Sangharakshita once called Going for Refuge, “The central act of the Buddhist life”. Paramabandhu leads an international event exploring how this understanding relates to the community we all take part in, and finds its place at the very heart of our practice in Triratna.

Women's Community in Bristol

By EllaWalker on Sun, 21 Nov, 2021 - 17:01

Hello Sangha!

We are Ella, Dayajoti, and Amber of Kalyanaloka, a Triratna Women’s Community which has been established in Bristol for 5 years. Please see our lovely flyer attached to this post!

We would love to welcome a new order member or mitra into our community, which is built on the foundation of our friendship and shared practice. We have community time and meditate together in our dedicated shrine room.

Some of our rejoicings in life at Kalyanaloka are feeling witnessed in how our life and practice unfold,...

New mixed community in East London

By aparajita on Fri, 24 Sep, 2021 - 11:20

Are you interested in considering joining our new four-person community in Bow, London, E3?

My partner Abhayanandi and I have at last managed to buy a 4-bed flat with a garden, and we’d love to live communally with two other Triratna Order Members or Mitras. We are moving in very soon.  It’s a nice flat with an open-plan living area and a garden. The rent will be somewhere around £600 per month plus bills. We’ve both really appreciated living in genuine practice communities, and...

International Sangha Day: May Our Communication Be Sangha

International Sangha Day: May Our Communication Be Sangha

By Centre Team on Fri, 10 Sep, 2021 - 20:51

Sunday November 21
Sangha, spiritual community, can be described as a network of friendships based on what’s of most value. In the company of those committed to the Buddha’s teachings – past and present – we can express and deepen metta, loving-kindness, in our deeds, words and thoughts.

This year’s International Sangha Day celebration focuses on communication because communication is a crucial part of the practice and development of Sangha. At its worst, communication can cause conflict and confusion, polarisation and the...

Opportunity in Southampton

By Dhammavijaya on Mon, 9 Aug, 2021 - 16:34

The Southampton Buddhist Centre is in a period great growth since opening our distinctive new premises nearly four years ago. Since then there have been approaching twenty new mitra ceremonies, lockdown growth, numerous ordination requests, and this year two ordinations.

Southampton itself is an interesting city with a fascinating history, and is this year applying for recognition as UK City of Culture 2025. It is also surrounded by beautiful Hampshire countryside including the New Forest, with attractive coastline and beaches within reach....
