Interested in making a difference to what we do?

From Abhayaratna Trust on Tue, 18 Feb, 2020 - 11:37

The Abhayaratna Trust exists to relieve hardship among members of the Triratna Buddhist Order. Inspired by Sangharakshita’s teaching on A Case of Dysentery, our main role is offering the infrastructure to help Order members help each other.

We are looking for one or two Order Members to join our existing four Trustees, to help oversee and develop the work of the Trust at an exciting time in the Trust’s development. We would particularly like to hear from you if you have some...

A Response to the Observer article of 16th February 2020

From Order Connection on Mon, 17 Feb, 2020 - 10:06

Dear Order Members,

You may be aware that the Observer newspaper have used a recent political appointment in the UK as an opportunity to reiterate some of their concerns about Triratna. The story has been picked up by another paper. There is nothing new in the content of the article in terms of Triratna, so we have issued a simple statement (below) directing anyone interested to the relevant pages of the Buddhist Centre Online.

We will be writing...

A comment from the Triratna Buddhist Community regarding the Observer article of 16th February 2020

From Adhisthana Kula on Sun, 16 Feb, 2020 - 22:31

The Triratna Buddhist Order is committed to acting in accordance with Buddhist ethical guidelines, including those on avoiding sexual misconduct.

We take the reports of our founder Sangharakshita’s sexual relations extremely seriously and have undertaken a great deal of investigation into what took place. We have been transparent about the findings, outlined in detail on our website: Triratna Controversy FAQ

Sangharakshita published his own apology in 2016. Although the police...

Dharmabyte: Death is Uncharted Territory

From Free Buddhist Audio on Mon, 3 Feb, 2020 - 14:00

There is something profoundly natural and ordinary about death, and yet something quite mysterious. Where do we go? What actually happens? Who or what are we when alive? Nothing changed, from the Buddha’s point of view. Vimalavajri offers reflections on the ultimate unknown, the ultimate mystery, death, inspired by the glimpses of awakening depicted in the Mahaparinibbana Sutta.

Excerpted from the talk entitled The Way to the Beyond given at Bristol Buddhist Centre, 2016.

Mainland Europe Young Buddhist Convention 29-31 May 2020

From Triratna Young Buddhists on Thu, 6 Feb, 2020 - 15:06

Many of us feel like we are living in uncertain and fast-moving times. Separation and polarization seem to be the trend rather than coming-together and unity. The future looks more and more insecure. Yet, the Buddha taught that this has always been the case.

We as young Buddhist practitioners are curious to find out what perspective the Buddha’s teaching has on our world today.

Join us here in Berlin for the Mainland Europe Young Buddhist Convention, where we come together to create community, practice...

Exploring Buddhist Modernism - New Podcast

From Buddhist Centre Features on Thu, 6 Feb, 2020 - 18:45

“I see philosophy as not only part of the great modernist, or western project of understanding, but feeding into the Buddhist project of bringing awakened values into the world” - Dhivan
