A Breath of Fresh Air

From Croydon Buddhist Centre on Mon, 27 Mar, 2017 - 16:43

Spring is certainly in the air this week, the sunshine is filling up our new shrine room and reception space. The builders worked over the weekend to finish painting and the electricals and left only one worker on site Tuesday. Our contractors have gone on a much needed holiday. With the majority of the main work complete, cleaning up started and we turned out attention to getting the area tip top before we fit our new carpet tiles.

Letter from the Chair of the College of Public Preceptors to all Order Members

From Order Messenger on Mon, 27 Mar, 2017 - 01:16

Dear Order Members,

The past few months have seen a wave of discussion within our Sangha about Sangharakshita and the Order, with some Order members questioning the way in which our Order is conceived, organised, and led. This was the main topic of the Public Preceptors’ College meeting, held at Adhisthana from 6th to 16th March. In entering this discussion, we take for granted that other Order members, like us, share a deep love and concern for...

The Buddhafield season is upon us!

From Buddhafield on Wed, 22 Mar, 2017 - 15:42

The Buddhafield season begins in April, and the spring weather is drawing us closer to nature and to the land, calling us to a deeper experience of ourselves and others, supported by the earth.

Highlights of the season include our Total Immersion Retreat - a silent meditation retreat led by experienced meditators Kamalashila and Vajradevi, on our beautiful Broadhembury land in Devon. Beginning on 6th May, the retreat runs for...

The Buddhist Centre Online - Keeping people connected

From Future Dharma on Tue, 21 Mar, 2017 - 12:03

Zoe Lim is the only GFR mitra in Singapore. She found Triratna at the Nottingham centre when she was a student, and since moving back to Singapore has returned to the UK to attend retreats at Tiratanaloka, and travelled to India for the International Buddhist Youth Convention. Liz caught up with her online to talk about her life in Singapore and how online resources keep her connected with the Sangha.

In Singapore life is fast paced, expensive and often stressful....

Permaculture & Agroecology - The Bec Hellouin Farm

From Buddhist Action on Mon, 20 Mar, 2017 - 05:50

This video describes how permaculture can be a holistic and productive source of food production whilst also respecting and nourishing the environment and the beings we share our world with.  Here is some background:

Le Bec-Hellouin, France

International business lawyer Perrine Hervé-Gruyer was eyeing a career and a life change. She had bounced around the world, with stints in Tokyo and Hong Kong. She wanted self-sufficiency for her family, and so did her gardening-obsessed husband. Someone else might have bought a country home; Hervé-Gruyer...

Pam Warhurst: How we can eat our landscapes (Incredible Edibles)

From Buddhist Action on Mon, 20 Mar, 2017 - 05:42

This video describes how ‘incredible edibles’ was set up and the transformational effect it had on the community in Todmorden. Pam Warhurst is an ordinary human being, like all of us, and she and her friends did something amazing, which is now being replicated in over a 1000 other projects around the world.

For BAM 2017 I think the idea that each Buddhist Centre BAM team could establish/participate in a community based incredible edible project, however humble, within...

Demain/ Tomorrow - the film - a fantastic resource for BAM

From Buddhist Action on Sun, 19 Mar, 2017 - 20:59

I have just seen the film ‘Demain/ Tomorrow’ - it is amazing, and deeply inspiring. I encourage all aspiring bodhisattvas to find a way to view it (there is a DVD available and it is still showing in some cinemas). We could arrange screenings at our local Buddhist centres.  It is an incredible resource for BAM and for our precious Sangha. Follow the link
