* Rejoicing in the outgoing chair, Visuddhimati,

Look out for the ceremonial Vajra (a brass thunderbolt symbolising transformation).

Ratnaprabha will kick off with a series of public lectures on Saturday mornings at 11:30, inspired by the Buddha’s teaching to the Fire Worshippers, “The World is...

Death of Ashokashuri

From Order Connection on Fri, 28 Sep, 2018 - 11:33

Dear Order Members

Ashokashuri died on Wednesday night, 26th September. She was ordained in 2002 at Tiratanaloka by Ratnadharini (private preceptor) and Dhammadinna (public preceptor).

Ashokashuri had a history of ill health, and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer fairly recently. She was in hospital a couple of times, but was able to be cared for at her family home until her death. Her son - who lives in the USA - was able to spend a final week with her. Her husband and...

Edward Conze: A Study in Contradiction

From Shabda Articles on Fri, 28 Sep, 2018 - 09:41

In this essay I re-examine the life and work of Edward Conze who is frequently referred to as a great scholar, a great translator and a great Buddhist. Day 6: What Are We Committed To?

Day 6: What Are We Committed To?

From International Practice Week 2018: 'Turning Arrows Into Flowers' on Thu, 27 Sep, 2018 - 04:00

Yashobodhi is our guide for this year’s Dharma immersion online and at Triratna Centres around the world as part of the 2018 International Practice Week.

The big questions keep coming as we move deep into our week of shared practice around the seven point mind-training. What are we “bonded” to? How do we see our ethical path? How do we envision making commitments to ourselves and the promises we make? Yashobodhi offers some lojong (“teaching slogans”) that can help us clarify what...

50 Years, 50 Voices: Amalavajra and Jayaraja (Highlights)

From Buddhist Voices on Wed, 26 Sep, 2018 - 19:15

It’s a practice for the fundraiser and it’s a practice for the potential donor… a sort-of cremation ground in the Padmasambhava sense.

In 1978 I was five years old and had spent half my life...

Yashobodhi is our guide for this year’s Dharma immersion online and at Triratna Centres around the world as part of the 2018 International Practice Week.

Day 5 revolves around evaluating the mind-training practice we’ve been engaged in all week. Day 4, point 4 of our practice week looks at what it means to integrate this kind of mind training work into every area of our lives using reflection on 5 forces (or “powers”). Yashobodhi also movingly evokes the relevance of such deep Dharma activity to the process of our own (and other people’s) death…

If you have any...
