When the Worldly Winds blow we try to maintain our equanimity. But can the idea of “equanimity” sound rather detached and unfeeling? It’s actually the complete opposite of that! A short talk and led meditation with Vajragupta, live streamed on Facebook Wednesday 13th May
A mythic image to sum up and symbolize the theme of this week is that of the Buddha on the cusp of his Enlightenment. He is sitting still at the point when Mara attacks him with all the weapons he can muster. But, as the story goes, even though the Buddha is attacked he does not react with anger, hatred or defensiveness. Instead he sits in complete peace and...
Since Adhisthana closed, we have been cancelling retreats and refunding those booked on a rolling basis. When contacting people we have also been inviting them to donate their deposit (or more), to be distributed to those Triratna centres and organisations that will need additional help with funding during these uncertain times.
There has been a massive outpouring of generosity from people, and you can see some of the team talking about this in more detail in one of our blog post ‘...
We are very sad to inform you that Shraddhapushpa died peacefully this morning in St Joseph’s Hospice. Both her daughter Helen and foster son Ayen kept vigil with her for more than 24 hours until she passed away.
She was conscious and alert until a couple of days ago, and was able to speak to family and friends on the phone. She was also in good mental states and remained interested in her loved ones and the world while still conscious. Many of her sangha...
The Triratna Arts and Culture Catalogue is an initiative to document every four years, for 40 years, a selection of Art and Culture that represents the unfolding exploration of how to convey the Dharma into a globalised culture and so form the aesthetic foundations for a society based on caring for all that lives. Satyaraja leads through the visualization and mantra recitation practice of the Buddha Shakyamuni.
This practice is sometimes practised during retreats at Padmaloka and in fact used to be given at the time of an individual becoming a mitra.
The recording took place on Wednesday 6th May 2020 during a community silent retreat day at Padmaloka as part of a 2-day celebration of Wesak, otherwise known as Buddha Jayanti or Buddha Day.
In a talk given as part of Manchester Buddhist Centre's Urban Retreat, February 2020, Mahasraddha looks at Spiritual Death, and in particular our receptivity to impermanence and insubstantiality.
