This is to let you know that Doreen Wilson of the Birmingham Sangha will be ordained on Tuesday 25 January 2022.

Owing to ill health, Doreen will be ordained in her home both privately and publicly by Santavajri. A few of her good friends in the Order and members of her close family will be present.

Dear Order members,

I am very sad to inform you that Tejakirti passed away on 22nd January 2022 at the age of 80. He was living with his family in Aurangabad.

In 2003/2004, after his retirement as a teacher, he decided to live in Bhaja retreat centre for his ordination training. We were in the same Mitra chapter and did many retreats and had a good time together. He got his ordination in June 2012 at Bhaja retreat centre....

Dear Order members,

We are delighted to announce that the ordinations of the following 19 women took place at Hsuan Tsang Retreat Centre, Bordharan, India. The Private Ordinations took place on the 18th January, and the Public Ordinations on the 19th January. 

Amidst difficult conditions, with the support of Srimala, we, the four new Indian Public Preceptors, conducted our first Public Ordinations – the first ordinations of women in India to take place since December 2017.

As you may have seen in the news, the past few weeks have seen major changes affecting the NGO sector in India. More than 150 large Indian charities, including at least one of our Triratna Trusts, have had their permission to receive foreign funding revoked by the Indian Government.

Most significantly, TBMSG Pune has had its foreign contributions permission removed. This is one of the main trusts supporting Triratna social projects in India. It employs 67 staff, mostly Mitras and...

Dear Order members,

During a recent visit to Newcastle as President of the Newcastle Buddhist Centre, Amoghavamsa had a heart attack. He has had his stents replaced and is currently recovering in hospital in Newcastle until Monday or Tuesday. Akuppa has been helping Amoghavamsa in Newcastle. 

Amoghavamsa tells me he is doing ok. This morning he replied to my text message and wrote “I am in no pain. Lots of high-tech monitoring. Should be back in Sheffield soon.”
