New role available at Adhisthana

There are seven buildings that comprise Adhisthana’s indoor spaces, ranging in age from 30 to 230 years old. In our first decade these spaces have already hosted countless retreatants, pilgrims and visitors who come here to be inspired by Bhante Sangharakshita’s vision of the Dharma. Review: A Survey of Buddhism: Chapter One by Sangharakshita (new edition 2025)

In the summer of 1954 Sangharakshita was invited to give four lectures on Buddhism at the Indian Institute of World Culture in Bangalore (South India). The transcripts of these lectures became the basis of A Survey of Buddhism which was published by the Institute in 1957, the same year that witnessed the 2500th anniversary of Buddhism.

Forthcoming Ordinations at Sudarshanaloka

We are pleased to announce that the following women will soon be ordained at Sudarshanaloka Retreat Centre in New Zealand. The private ordination will take place on Monday 21st July and the public ordination will follow on Thursday 24th July.
