Young Buddhists Gather for the 7th Annual Big retreat

From Triratna Young Buddhists on Sun, 16 Nov, 2014 - 14:35130 Young Buddhists gathered at Adhisthana, in the UK, for another fantastic and inspiring Big Young Buddhists retreat. People came from our Young Buddhists groups around Europe and we were particularly excited to welcome overseas visitors from Germany, Spain and Ireland. The theme this year was #bigfuturebuddanow and we heard inspiring talks from Dharmashalin, Prajnaketu and Kusalasara (video links to follow soon).

Karunamaya talks of the 800 women training for ordination in India and Nagabodhi tells us of working with men training to join the order in the USA, Australia and New Zealand. We hear of the cultural differences and the spiritual similarities between those situations.

As well as their impressions of the college, they movingly share with us their experience of a Skype meeting earlier today with Vajragita. Vajragita is not with us as she is unwell with terminal cancer and in today’s Skype with the college, she shared her thoughts and feelings about facing her death.

From Community Highlights on Wed, 12 Nov, 2014 - 17:57Adhisthana is again playing host to the biannual College of Preceptors’ meeting, with 25 of the 34 active members on-site until 20 November. In case you don’t know, the College is (amongst other things) responsible for all ordinations worldwide into the Triratna Buddhist Order. So they hold a lot of responsibility for the harmonious development of the wider Triratna Community too!

Each evening we’ll be uploading interviews with a range of the Preceptors...
