What is DANCE?

What is DANCE?

From Buddhist Action Month 2015 on Fri, 15 May, 2015 - 12:00

Dharma Action Network for Climate Engagement (DANCE) is a “space for connecting to explore the breadth of possible Dharma responses to climate change and related issues.”

Originating with Gaia House, in Devon, UK, a centre connected with the Insight Meditation tradition, its publicity does not yet reflect awareness of BAM (which is growing but not yet that well known). Maybe nearby Triratna sanghas would like to make contact.

Find DANCE on Facebook.
Visit the DANCE website.

From Triratna News on Thu, 14 May, 2015 - 16:23

When you give money for earthquake relief, it’s reasonable to wonder how much of it will actually reach those who need it most. This was a question raised with Green Tara Trust’s workers in Nepal by Green Tara Trust here in the UK. Here’s what their worker Amit, says:

“This was a very big concern for us as well, so we identified the poorest of the poor through

i) quick field assessment by Green Tara trustees and staff
ii) recommendation from field staff who have been working...

The “Eco-Sattva” online training mentioned in a previous post has been moved to 13th September - 15th November this year. Triratna’s Guhyapati is one of several teachers from different Buddhist traditions.

The organisers write: “We received a lot of feedback that the summer wasn’t great, that folks wanted more time to plan and gather their sanghas and we might be able to get in a few more great teachers.

Registered participants have been notified and most are choosing to just transfer their slot to the autumn....

Manchester Buddhist Centre: Events planned for BAM 2015

From Buddhist Action Month 2015 on Wed, 13 May, 2015 - 16:54

Manchester’s Engaged Buddhist Kula, along with the Centre Team have pulled together a great schedule of events for BAM this year. We’re particularly keen to engage with other faith groups in Manchester, so have organised a “Flash Mob for Peace” on 4th June 2015. Other events invlude a screening of the multi-award nominated feature film “Leave to Remain” on 26th June 2015 - which the makers have allowed us show free of charge! I’m certainly excited about what we’ve got in store...
