Your Money or Your Life

Your Money or Your Life

From London Buddhist Centre on Mon, 30 Jun, 2014 - 18:15Money makes for wonderful means but terrible ends. If we focus our life a mere symbol of relative value then we risk alienating ourselves from the very things we seek - love, meaning and rich experience. Could money instead be a means to not just a better world, but to Enlightenment itself?

Amalavajra is an ex-City broker turned fundraiser. This talk was given to a public audience as part of the June 2014 ‘BAM’ series: Buddhist Action Month.

Soya cream discovery

From Buddhist Action Month 2014 on Tue, 24 Jun, 2014 - 17:28
Birmingham Buddhist Centre runs a project to support carers with their stress management. As part of BAM, we went for a vegan lunch option today. It turned out that soya cream (drizzled over strawberries) was quite a hit with many of them. Brenda is here posing with her new discovery and vowing to go home and get some.

BAM at Triratna Exeter Group – a celebration of altruism in the Sangha

From Buddhist Action Month 2014 on Thu, 19 Jun, 2014 - 13:01In an enlightening, inspiring and moving Sangha evening members of the group shared the place of altruism in their life and practice. Colin, a former member of Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, and a very long-standing vegetarian (on altruistic grounds) talked of his voluntary work as an advocate for trade union members experiencing financial hardship and helping them to apply to benevolent funds. Emma, working at a Centre for adults with various, and sometimes profound, disabilities, shared the satisfaction,...

Levenshulme Sangha meets again!

From Manchester Buddhist Centre on Thu, 19 Jun, 2014 - 11:45

Levenshulme Sangha meets again!

From Manchester Buddhist Centre on Thu, 19 Jun, 2014 - 11:45There are now quite a few Sangha members who live in or around the Levenshulme area of Manchester. We’ve been meeting up regularly for a few months now - meditating together, and having breakfast too. The latest meeting was last Sunday at Adele’s allotment! Several of us meditated and then enjoyed wok fried chips! Music was provided by our youngest member, Ruby - just 13!
Here are some pics.
