PLANETARY  friday 10th June 18:30

We are in the midst of a global crisis of perspective. We have forgotten the undeniable truth that everything is connected. PLANETARY is a provocative and breathtaking wakeup call, a cross continental, cinematic journey, that explores our cosmic origins and our future as a species. PLANETARY is a poetic and humbling reminder that it’s time to shift our perspective. PLANETARY asks us to rethink who we really are, to reconsider our relationship...

BAM at Newcastle Buddhist Centre - Compassionate Eating

From Buddhist Action Month 2016 on Fri, 3 Jun, 2016 - 17:05

Our main theme for Buddhist Action Month is food ethics. We held an evening on the topic on the 1st June, ranging from reflection to practical tips as well as some actual eating. Everyone was invited to think about one or two steps they could take in the direction of eating compassionately. We’ll return to the topic at the end of the month, to see if we’ve made progress.

It started yesterday evening and I think it’s the largest (or joint largest) Buddhism course I’ve ever led here in Istanbul: 15 people are on the course :)

Confession: Refining Our Ethical Sensitivities

From Croydon Buddhist Centre on Fri, 3 Jun, 2016 - 01:00
This is the next in our series on Transforming Self and World through the sevenfold puja. In this talk Dharmasri helps us discover confession using extracts from pujas such as those from the sutra of golden light and the Vajrassatva puja. We consider what confession is not and then explore what it is, with an emphasis on self metta and the feeling of liberation that comes from having all of ourselves witnessed by others. This talk was given at the Croydon Buddhist Centre in May 2016 as part of the regular Saturday morning sangha class.
