Going For Refuge In a Time of Fear

From Padmaloka Retreat Centre on Sat, 21 Mar, 2020 - 00:00
Padmavajra gives a talk on how to Go for Refuge in times of adversity, even in a time of fear. Given the situation of the world today, with threat of sickness and great uncertainty, how do we practise as Buddhists? How do we continue to deepen our practice of loving kindness, of awareness? What is the real response to the situation we find ourselves in today? Recorded on the 18th March 2020 in the Padmaloka shrine room, with an audience of the Padmaloka community.

Does your centre need help with the financial challenges of Coronavirus?

Does your centre need help with the financial challenges of Coronavirus?

From European Chairs' Assembly on Fri, 20 Mar, 2020 - 15:38

Keturaja, Danayutta, Maitrinara and I, from the Triratna Money Group have just met to discuss how we might help Triratna centres deal with their fall-off in income now that most have closed their doors.

We’d be willing to research, summarise and share, for example, government crisis support schemes in the UK, and ways of negotiating rent and mortgage ‘holidays’.

However before doing this work we’d like to know whether you would find this useful. Please reply in the comments box.

With metta,

Amalavajra, FutureDharma Fund

Cancellation of Upcoming Ordination Courses at Akashavana and Guhyaloka

From Order Connection on Thu, 19 Mar, 2020 - 16:30

Dear Order members,

Sadly, due to the uncertainty and travel restrictions in place because of Covid-19, the decision has been taken to cancel this year’s summer ordination courses at both Akashavana and Guyhaloka. This was not an easy decision but is the only sensible one at this point in time.

We recognise that people invited had made great efforts to free themselves up for the duration of the retreats and we looked at many...

Dharmabyte: Sangha Doesn’t Happen By Chance

From Free Buddhist Audio on Thu, 19 Mar, 2020 - 13:00

Suryamati reminds us that the spiritual life is difficult to practice on one’s own. Here we here the story of Meghiya where the Buddha advises that spiritual friendship is needed for the heart’s release.

How do we be a sangha member? How do we help others in their practice of sangha?

Here, we get an introduction to the teaching on the Samgrahavastus, the four means of unification.

From the talk entitled Building the Buddhaland given at Sangha Night, Sheffield Buddhist Centre,...

Translating the Dharma into Hebrew

Translating the Dharma into Hebrew

From Triratna News on Fri, 13 Mar, 2020 - 11:09

Accessing the Dharma in your own language can make a significant difference to a person’s ability to practice. The Triratna Translations Board was set up at the end of 2015 to promote and coordinate translation projects in many languages and have enabled the translations of many Triratna books.

The latest of these is What is the Dharma by Sangharakshita, which has now been translated into Hebrew.

Prakashika, born in Israel, but now living in Australia,...
