Making Our Mind Up

From Sheffield Buddhist Centre on Wed, 31 Jul, 2019 - 00:00
The second step in bringing about the goal of Enlightenment is to firmly decide to do what is needed in order to achieve it. Moksatara draws out how making a commitment can support our spiritual life. She explores how the sevenfold puja can contact our highest values, leading to firm decisions which begin the path to freedom. Part 2 in the 'Path to Awakening' Sangha night series at Sheffield Buddhist Centre. Points for reflection and discussion: Do you resonate with the sevenfold puja? What decisions could you make this week to create conditions for achieving your goal? Read chapters 2 and 3 of the condensed Bodhicaryavatara (available on the Sangha Night section of the website at the time this talk was uploaded) to accompany this week's talk. Recorded at Sheffield Buddhist Centre 30.07.19

Dear Order Members,

This is to inform you that the Indian Public Preceptors Kula has received a letter of resignation from Dhammachari Vimaldassi. He states that he has found practising ethics effectively as a dhammachari very difficult and he recognises that he needs to resign from the Order.

Dharmabyte: Climate Crisis Calls for Rapid Transformation

From Free Buddhist Audio on Mon, 29 Jul, 2019 - 14:00

Tejopala likens the current global climate crisis to a village with a fire that threatens everyone in it and asks what a community of monks living in such a village might do in such circumstances. He also draws on the advice given by Urgyen Sangharakshita in his talk given in 1984 called ‘Buddhism, World Peace and Nuclear War’ as to how Buddhists should act to address an overwhelming existential threat, in which Bhante urges civil resistance.

Further Response from the Adhisthana Kula to the Observer Article, July 2019

From Adhisthana Kula on Sun, 28 Jul, 2019 - 21:45

Here is a further update from the Adhisthana kula about how we intend to take our work forward. Some of the steps we outline below are already in discussion or in process, and we recognise the need for much greater visibility of process and outcomes. We also recognise that we have been slow to implement some of our intentions.

A further update from the Adhisthana kula as to how we are addressing controversial aspects of Triratna’s past and what we are putting in...
